Jesse Merlin surprised and delighted Morlockians by recreating his signature role as the insane professor in the Broadway musical “Morlock!” opposite Kristin Chenowith as Janet Lawton and Sutton Foster as Amanda Globe. The highlight of the production was the show-stopping “Your Gorilla Brain is My Gravy Train” in which Morlock inevitably ties Janet up in her underwear and tries to transplant her brain with that of a gorilla.
The show had high hopes at the Tony Awards when it was nominated in nine categories, but the only award it took home was newcomer William Potter’s as Best Featured Actor in a Musical for his sensitive performance as the gorilla.
