Union spokespeople tried to perpertuate the myth that 99-seat theatre was put on by fat cat producers
who made huge profits staging shows in the small venues and that everyone connected with the productions
were paid except for the actors. The reality is that most shows are produced by actors or
collectives of actors and are typically produced at a financial loss.
